Wine and Food Night Review

Recently we held our hugely successful Ardgowan Hospice Festive Wine and Food event at McCaskie Butchers and Seaview Cafe in Wemyss Bay. Many thanks to two of our wine suppliers from Enotria world wine and Berkman wine cellars for their support. How much did we raise? Please read on…

We had a few products on show, including our Haggis Bon Bon, new improved bacon cheese balls, our ultra smooth chicken liver parfait, mini quiche, mini burgers and our new mini macaroni cheese and bacon pies and steak and haggis pies. All went down very well we think!

We had two mini fundraising events – a Prosecco challenge and a Turkey taste challenge each £2 to enter. We’re delighted to say 38 people took part in the turkey tasting between our McCaskie’s Copas turkey (most expensive), a Standard Free Range bird and a third bird which in fact wasn’t a turkey but a large free range roasting chicken from Gartmorn farm! We noticed the Copas had a fuller shape, cooked quicker and got 20 votes, 10 votes for the standard free range and 8 for the chicken. So it shows you really do get what you pay for!

We also raffled off one of our McCaskie’s Christmas Hampers which was won by the Brogan family from Erskine -conngratulations! And….£1125 raised for Ardgowan Hospice.

Thanks to all who attended, you all made it a great evening. Now on with planning next event…
