At McCaskies we are extremely proud of our heritage and of being a traditional family business specialising in Quality Meat and Meat Products. McCaskie’s has seen many changes over the last twenty years under the ownership of Nigel Ovens (3rd generation), his mother Elizabeth (the daughter of the founder, Mearns T. McCaskie) and his wife, Helen.
The one dominating factor which hasn’t changed over the years is our focus on Quality – in both the products we make and the service we offer. We now not only supply the local area but also offer a nationwide delivery service via our website; we are also pleased to supply several of Scotland’s most highly regarded restaurants.
At the rear of the modern and welcoming butchers shop is a state of the art production facility which was opened by HRH The Princess Royal in 2018; interconnected to the butchers is a cafe / bistro where we serve the tasty products we make next door.
Key to our success is our dedicated and passionate team, many of whom have worked with the McCaskies for over 15 years (in my mother’s case for over 60 years!) and, of course, the fabulous loyalty and support shown by our many customers, old and new, which we appreciate sincerely.

100% Scotch Beef, Lamb & Pork-Always!
At McCaskies we love our native breeds and new for 2023 our standard beef will be from 100% Scotch Certified Aberdeen Angus- A standard that doesn’t get much better.
Renowned for its excellent marbling our specially hand selected Angus Steaks And Roasts are aged for minimum of 30 days to ensure we deliver the Best Beef possible.
We work with some pretty incredible farmers and suppliers and in addition to our Angus we will be offering guest native breeds from specialist producers when available.
All our Lamb is 100% Scotch from farmers specialising in grass and heather fed lamb.
Our pork is from Stobbs Farm in Hawick where Tom Wilikinson a 3rdgeneration pork farmer rears the finest out door reared pork to the highest welfare standards.

We are proud to have won many leading awards for our meat products. Our award winning specialities include: Sausages, Pies, Bacons and Ready Meals; we are especially proud to make Scotland’s most awarded Haggis and Black Pudding, having won multiple national awards for both of these iconic products. All products are made in small batches in Wemyss Bay using the very finest ingredients.
