McCaskie’s Triumph at Oban Haggis Festival 2024

Nigel and Billy set off early last Sunday morning to Oban, carrying our much-loved haggis for this year’s Oban Haggis Festival, held at the historic Oban Distillery.

The event was a fantastic celebration of Scotland’s iconic dish, attracting a record number of entries from some of the UK’s most prominent haggis makers. Two competitions were held: the prestigious Golden Haggis Award, judged by an expert panel, and the People’s Choice Award, where the public cast their votes in a blind tasting.

We’re proud to share that we were finalists in the Golden Haggis Award, though we narrowly missed out on the title this year.

However, in the People’s Choice Award, the story was quite different. We are delighted to announce that McCaskie’s haggis was crowned the winner by a huge margin! With nearly 300 festival visitors taking part in the blind tasting, the results confirmed that our haggis continues to delight the taste buds of haggis lovers far and wide.

It was a pleasure to share the occasion with Billy McFadden, a key member of the McCaskie team and our trusted chief haggis maker. The day was filled with great company, catching up with old friends, and celebrating a remarkable achievement.

This marks our fifth People’s Choice Award in nine years, and we’re thrilled to bring back another handcrafted trophy to the McCaskie collection. A huge thank you to everyone who supported us and made the day so special!
